Most of us think of seizures as a quick event that occurs in a quick minute or two and ends as quickly and generally calm. What your about to see in this clip is the polar opposite. Anisa has suffered these type seizures and many other types for decades.
Can you imagine what it would take to care for her every need 24/7 ? The only way, says her mother and caregiver Beverly – is through ‘Exellent Grace’ which you may have noticed is also the title of Anisa’s Blog. Beverly has always pointed to the Grace of God when asked how she handles it. Ive seen for decades, and along with Excellent Grace there has been superatural strength and wisdom not to even mention patience. As a social worker who has run programs for aduts with disabilities, I can verify that Ive not seen staff who were tending to people with half of the struggles that Anisa faces last more than 6-8 hours before they had to have relief.
But this everyday all day. No breaks other than an occasional trained friend who may stay with Anisa while Beverly has to run to the store or run some errands- that’s her ‘break’. Gods Excellent Grace has shown up when and where it really had to be
Follow this blog and you to hear Anisa’s story, and hopefully many from readers who have had similar trials with disabled family members.
Below is an actual seizure Anisa once had, and the physical demands on both Anisa and her mom. The time from actual seizing to return to normal routine can be very long depending on the severity. This clip captures beginning to end. If you are pressed for time try to catch the first 5-8 minutes if possible
