One issue that I faced in every single branch of human services was that of medications for kids. First off, let me say that if your child is already on meds and you are regretting that call, you can change it. There is a simple process to have the doctor safely discontinue meds. Almost every mom or dad that came to me said they had no idea when they took their child in to see the doctor they would walk out with a diagnoses for Ad-Hd and a script for Adderal at age 11.

Of course I’m using that as an example it could have been any diagnosis and any type of medication the point is is when a parent is referred to a doctor by some therapist they’re not often prepared of the outcome and what it might likely be.

This is why I would recommend seeing a psychologist first before a psychiatrist. A psychologist will never prescribe medication where is the psychiatrist only prescribes medication. There’s not too much damage you can get done by a psychologist because you can quickly pull them out. However on medication there’s all kinds of problems.

It would take me a book to share with you all the problems but I’ll sum it up by saying this. Several years ago a major pharmaceutical company who makes antidepressants for teenagers who have suicidal thoughts made an announcement.

The announcement was in the last seven years to head marketed 13 drugs for teenagers with suicidal thoughts and major depression. In a recent study it is come to their attention that out of the 13 only one was effective .  I’m not finished. The 12 that were not effective also can cause suicidal thoughts. WHAT?

Yep. But it gets worse. You would think they would take the 12  off the market right. Nope continue to market those drugs today.

My advice to you with medication for children and medication for adults is seek counsel first. Go in prepared do not go in unarmed do not go in with no knowledge of the drugs or possibility or drugs you might be prescribed. Big pharmaceutical a billion dollar Industries they are allowed to write doctors checks for writing prescriptions for their designer drugs. Before you put your child or yourself on medications or accept any diagnosis from a doctor,  you need to take a second opinion or better yet talked with somebody like me before you ever go in..
