Probably one of the most common problems that I’ve been asked to help with is the idea of someone who’s in a profession that they think would’ve look down on them  if they were to ever let anyone know they  struggled with depression or addiction or even that their family members or teenager  was having a problem.

First off it might surprise  you to know that you’re not alone. Many addicts and people suffering from mental illness are shocked to hear that up to 10% of those seeking treatment alongside of them are actually physicians themselves.

The big difference between the physicians in  treatment and the average person that I talk to is the average person doesn’t realize they’re protected. Every reasonable  company has some sort of an employee assistance program to help you through times like that.  Its confidential and it is even illegal in some cases for you to be demoted or have any negative consequences for seeking help.

If you’re concerned about revealing your issue,  and you think it’s too sensitive and  could affect your  career or your family relationships,  contact me so we can discuss how you can be protected from all those worries and get the help you need.
