BREAKING NEWS-ADDICTION SERIES 2017- Don’t Call Me ” Junkie” Anymore..

Well it has finally become somewhat official. Those of us who have lived through the hell of it knew this decades ago, but better late then never.

Just as Barry Manilow revealed his ” secret ” recently…(I knew he was really singing ” Randy your a fine..” not  ” Mandy“) lol

So it goes with the medical community and publicly acknowledging what some of us have known for decades or more. Like all other documented and proven diseases, addiction has finally gotten it’s “star” on the walk of shame. The bottom line here- and the take away for all you armchair experts who have referred to your loved ones or others as “Junkies” or ” druggies” is that those days are over.

Unless you would go to the cancer ward at a hospital and tell the patients to ” snap out of it” or ” get it together” -you have no right to say it to an addict. Remember one thing- not one addict on earth wants to be an addict. Let that sink in.  Its no news to those who have been fortunate enough to live through the hell of the disease.  Hopefully it will help millions in the future get the support of their loved ones that they deserve.

Tough love is not the answer anymore. I am happy for the people who right now are struggling with the disease, as they may have better support for recovery and continued treatment. I am heartbroken though when I think about the millions we have lost to suicide or overdose all because nobody believed they actually were giving it all they had..

So raise your glasses of sprite up and lets toast to real support for those in the middle of that trial right now. Families and friends, this is not about looking back at what could have been or blaming you. – but it is about what can be… so love on those struggling right now- lets take it up to the next level-

OK?
