Girls With Mental Illness More Likely To Become Pregnant-

I don’t think this is breaking news, but I do not see it addressed too often.. Girls who suffer from real mental health issues are getting pregnant at higher rates then those who do not. I see this as a supervision issue, at least in the teenage years, and an educational issue as well. I think many young girls are taken advantage of by males who see them as a weak link. Feedback welcome!

I am a social worker and family coach for 20+ years. I have had around 50 foster kids , worked in every and any type of facility from juvenile centers to clinical treatment centers to schools for expelled youth . I've been successful with starting schools for violent offenders , training hospital staff , entire counties of public school teachers, parents and many more on behavior management and helping families in trouble . I have been honored to speak on many occasions and to teach professionals what is wrong with our systems for kids and adults, and how I was able to have successful outcomes in all the programs that I ran. And yes- I do have all the accolades and awards and pats on the back from high places and degrees but I'm not in this for that recognition. I appreciate the acknowledgement I've received over the years, but I don't even have an " I love me" wall in the I don't even know where those things are anymore ..LOL I have lived a hard life myself and grew up in a very violent and abusive home. My family Is filled with depression , addiction and suicide. I also have had to navigate my way through these areas . I use my own experience to help others. I hope you will join the awesome people who follow me and share their stories. This Is a place to come to keep it real. We all struggle . So on this site we keep it legit. No judgement. 1. I don’t know about the numbers nor the demographics of the study, but I believe the issues of predatory behavior is more prevalent than society is aware. And I don’t think it is limited to the poor or uneducated. VW.

    1. Of course. You are totally correct but we don’t even really make an effort to protect those that have proven to have mental illness much less those who are victims of the sick freak pedophiles out there in general…

  2. That is true. Mental health issues bring on low self esteem. Unfortunately, having a low self esteem makes females of all ages very vulnerable. Their search for acceptance usually leads them to the wrong place.

    1. I agree, and having personally lived and worked with many hundreds of teens with mental health issues, I always wonder who will look out for them when they ” become an adult ” so to speak. Its a very sad cycle that nobody I know of has addressed. There is a group of millions of adults out there that have this issue, and have to try and just live life without the proper understanding needed.
